RealPlayer SP has been very well-received by PC users worldwide. But no matter how happy we've been with the results, we've had one thing nagging at us-the lack of Mac support. We've been all over the country in the last six months talking about RealPlayer SP, and the one universal complaint was that it was PC-only. That all changes today as we're thrilled to announce RealPlayer SP for Mac. Mac users have been able to download videos to their machines for a few years with RealPlayer 11, but with SP, you're now able to take those videos and put them on your favorite phones, iPods, and even your XBox. The Mac version works slightly differently than the PC software, as there are certain requirements/allowances for Mac OSX. For instance, the infamous "download this" button you may be familiar with in the PC version is not in the Mac version. Instead, whenever you watch a video, the download/converter window of RPSP will open and ask if you'd like to save that video to your Mac and convert it to your device. We are in the middle of a four day session at the last stop of the Winter Dew Tour in Mount Snow, Vermont. It has been such an incredible experience so far. We have a little 10' x 10' booth right at the bottom of the slopestyle course in the Carinthia part of the ski area. We can literally see the whole lower half of the slopestyle course from the booth, and the lower 1/3 of the half pipe. The crowds are growing thicker by the day as people stream in to see these amazing athletes work their mojo on massive kickers and courses made out of ice. In the festival village sponsors await the crowds to show them their latest phones, cameras, jerky (yes, I'm serious) and gear. We're in great company as there are a few vendors that fit in with what RealPlayer SP does very nicely. GoPro HD cameras are the peas to our carrots as their cameras produce super high quality video. They're fitted to work with helmets as helmet cameras, handle bars, and chest mounts. The cameras work great for snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, surfing- any adventure sport! Fall of 2009 was a crazy one for the RealPlayer team. After the beta launch of RealPlayer SP in June, we took to the skies to spread the word about RealPlayer SP via a Reality Check. Social Media Club, Roxanne Darling (project manager), and 11 host cities did an amazing job of pulling together content creators, video consumers, PR pros, casual bloggers, and tech savvy people from every corner of the country (and Australia!) to check out our wares. The Reality Check website has a rundown of each event, including videos put together by local videographers. Each post also has the Twitter handle of some of the participants in the videos, which is a great way to get to know some folks who are interested in web video and vlogging. We had different experiences in each city, and all were really valuable. There is truly no better way to get feedback about a product then crowd-sourcing. We were given so much great feedback, took a few punches, made a lot of friends, created new fans, and even helped a great cause! It's the holidays. Everyone is either merry and rosy cheeked or bahumbugging everyone and swearing off Christmas music till the day they die. The holiday season is one of many sentiments: cozy, happy, loving, annoyed, tired, spent, full, and stressed out. It doesn't have to be so difficult. With the economy in its current state of indigestion, it's important to find things that make you happy and less stressed out, so you can enjoy the time you have with friends and family. Really. Gift-giving is always way more stressful than it needs be. In fact, some sources say the best way to a stress-free holiday season is to go without the gifting. While this would certainly ease stress on the wallet, I don't think it's a method for everyone. As commercial is it may be, giving gifts is a huge part of  "the season."  Some people (myself included) enjoy shopping for other people and it always helps if you like what you're giving. One thing that's guaranteed to be hot this year is mobile phones, and if you're signing up for a new contract you can get some solid deals on some pretty cool phones. Wednesday night was Social Media Club Chicago's monthly meet-up. The event was held at the Double Tree Hotel on the magnificent mile in downtown Chicago. This was the fourth stop in our 10-city Reality Check web video tour. We had high hopes for our Chicago event and it didn't disappoint. There was a big crowd and the best part- they were all web video freaks! The crowed was sprinkled with some heavy hitters on Twitter like Gabe Strom, Sarah Evans, Liz Strauss, and Kelly Olexa. We were in esteemed company, indeed! The first part of the evening was a panel consisting of heavy web video users and content creators consisting of: Tim Jahn, Matt Lee, Kelly Olexa and Phoebe Svoboda. They gave a brief summation of what they currently do with web video and then event host Barb Rozgonyi asked the audience the following questions to ponder while our panelists spoke: How are you consuming web video? How do you move video from one place to another? What videos are you producing? The point of these questions was to get the audience thinking about web video in a focused manner. Last Friday and Saturday was one of the social/tech world's most coveted conferences, Gnomedex. This was version 9.0, which is pretty impressive for any conference. Founded almost a decade ago by Chris Pirillo, Gnomedex attempts to bring together people from various parts of the tech and social media communities, regardless of whether he thinks they'll all get along or not. That's part of the charm of Gnomedex- you never know what you're going to get, but it's always going to be awesome. This year RealPlayer SP had the privilege of being a sponsor and hosted the official Saturday night party. We had a booth set up right next to the main conference hall where we could demo RealPlayer SP and its super cool features. We were also the official video sponsor, which we thought would go along nicely with RealPlayer SP's social and portable features. And because the speakers at Gnomedex are simply phenomenal,  we thought people would like the idea of being able to download the videos and take them with them on their phones.
