Post-election Music

Here at RealNetworks we have our own ways of celebrating/coping with the election results. We blast Rhapsody as loud as we can until we get yelled at by fellow coworkers. I wanted to share post election playlists with you in times of pure jubilee or sadness, as I’m sure people out there are experiencing one of these sentiments. I asked folks on Twitter to submit their election songs- what was running through their head on November 4th, and what is running through their head now? I did a search of blogs to see what other people were saying. And, most important of all, I tried to be completely neutral- a little love for the happy folks, and a little blues for the sad folks.

For those who are elated, feeling at peace, and just plain happy, I present: “Yes We Did!”

And, for those of you in the fetal position, I present, “They Did WHAT?”
What would you add to or change about these lists?

  1. What a great idea! I love that you included both sides. Very nonpartisan of you.

  2. For the victors (yahoo!!!):

“Walls Come Tumbling Down”, The Style Council
“Let the River Run”, Carly Simon

For those licking their wounds (I’ve been on the losing side more often, so I have more of these):

“Another Nail in My Heart”, Squeeze
    “6th Avenue Heartache”, The Wallflowers
“Piece of My Heart”, Janis Joplin
    “Bloody Well Right”, Supertramp
    “The Morning After”, Maureen McGovern

  3. I already replied with these songs on Twitter, but I’ll explain why I picked then here:

“Who Are You?” because nobody knows who Barack Obama really is yet.

“We’re Not Gonna Take It!” because I’ve had enough with the politicians in both major parties. Time for a revolution and votes for third party candidates.
