Making Travel a Little Better

‘Tis the season for lots of traveling. Planes, trains, cars and buses alike will be crammed full of people going to visit their loved ones, head to the ski resorts, or just seeking a change of scenery. Portable entertainment is in higher demand than ever before and hardware manufacturers and software designers are answering the call for more cooler travel-sized devices.
I recently read a post about how traveling with an iPhone has drastically changed the travel landscape. No longer will people need to drive around in driving rain looking for a hotel or a place that serves decent hot food. GPS at your finger tips. And the author didn’t even mention the entertainment value of the device. Games, music, movies-something for that person stuck in the co-pilot seat. But it’s not just the iPhone. Any smart phone will hold your hand through a road trip and get you to a comfortable resting spot.
Aside from your handy mobile device here is a short list to make your holiday travel a little less painful:
- A stash card that holds all of your monetary items in your laptop’s card slot.
- A really ugly, but very awesome power adapter.
- Some earbud ehancers that make the iPod earbuds suddenly not so lame.
- A Patagonia Capilene 3 baselayer. Seriously the most awesomly versitle shirt EVER. Trust me. I have way too many.
- Devotec solar power charger. Stay charged no matter where you are (unless you’re in a totally dark room with no light or electricity. Then you’re hosed).
- Eye-Fi Wireless wifi memory card so you can upload your pics to your machine wirelessly. So cool!
- Some super duper deals on iPhone/iPod touch games.
- And of course, your Rhapsody enabled device or MP3 player.

Good tips. Gonna get the solar power charger. A little leery of the iPod earbid enhancers. Hard for me to imagine these make those lousy earphones sound better.
